Take a trip to Big Bend in music and stunning video!
Critically acclaimed indie classical group, Montopolis, turns west Texas tales into song in this concert inspired by Big Bend National Park. The performance weaves history, poetry and personal stories into music inspired by the land and the people who have walked upon it. Music and story are accompanied by breathtaking video on the Levitt video screen that captures the epic grandeur of the vast high desert wilderness. Led by composer Justin Sherburn, Montopolis combines country, folk and rock styles into modern classical arrangements that the Austin Chronicle has called “stunning” and “transcendent.” The musicians include members of the Austin Symphony, Okkervil River, The Polyphonic Spree and the Tosca String Quartet. The presentation features a dynamic seven-piece group accompanying a gorgeous video portrait of West Texas and legends of the Texas Rangers and Native Americans.
