Lesson 4 — Strumming Techniques & Transposition
In our final lesson of the basic guitar series, Tom will review all of the primary chords you’ve learned so far. He will then discuss the importance of tempo (rate of speed) in music and how to strum in different tempos. He’ll wrap things up with transposition and using the Capo.

About your instructor
Tom Burchill is a professional guitarist, acclaimed teacher and award- winning jazz band director, gifted arranger, and composer in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. An active freelance guitarist, he performs frequently throughout the area and has impacted many lives through his teaching and his music. Tom teaches private guitar at UTA and is a jazz guitar instructor at Texas Christian University. His former students have won more than 10 Grammy awards combined and have gone on to play with such artists as Snarky Puppy, Count Basie Orchestra, Wynton Marsalis, The Lincoln Center Band, Leon Bridges, Miranda Lambert, Kirk Franklin, Toby Keith, Erika Badu, Prince, Snoop Dogg, Frank Foster, Mumford and Sons, Tedeschi Trucks, and Sheryl Crow.
