SUMMARY:Texas Made Songs: Singer-Songwriter Night w/ Radney Foster Band and Tony Pierce
DESCRIPTION:Levitt Arlington is launching its inaugural Texas Made Songs: Singer-Songwriter Night\, a new program designed to broaden our artistic offerings and celebrate Texas’ rich musical heritage. This special event will feature acclaimed Texas artist Radney Foster as the headliner\, whose influential career and statewide recognition are expected to draw a diverse audience from across the region. Thank you to the Texas Music Office for sponsoring this free night of live music! \n7:10 PM – Levitt Youth Spotlight presented by Texas Trust Credit Union \n7:30 PM – Tony Pierce  \nIn 2010 Tony Pierce\, a budding guitar player from Texas moved to Nashville when he got the job to play lead guitar for a new country artist that had just signed a record deal. After 3 years with the emerging artist and a few opportunities like playing onstage at the Grand Ole Opry under his belt\, he should have been on cloud nine. He was living out any young guitar player’s dream\, but instead he was frustrated with the feeling something was missing.\nIn late 2013 Tony & his wife Jaime took a leap of faith and released their first single as a country duo\, Pierce Avenue\, written solely by Tony\, “Take It to the House.” In 2016\, Tony entered a guitar contest online through Guitar Center\, and was 1 of 5 finalists out of 6\,000 entries to be flown to Los Angeles\, CA and play on stage with Vince Gill and his band in the ‘Onstage with Vince Gill Contest’ chosen by Vince himself! Vince then invited all five contestants to play a special show with him one evening in Nashville! Each contestant got to use their allotted time on stage with Vince and his band as they chose. The crowd watched and cheered them on\, as Tony along with Jaime closed their set with Vince’s hit\, “One More Last Chance” with Tony sharing the guitar licks with his idol Vince Gill and well-renowned guitar player\, Tom Bukovac. It was a dream come true for these two Nashville hopefuls\, standing on stage with some of Nashville’s biggest musicians!\nAfter 9 years of performing & traveling the country together as a duo\, a pandemic\, and having their first child in 2020\, Pierce Avenue decided it was time for a change! Tony and his family decided it was time to move back to Texas and for him to get back to his Texas Music roots. His new solo EP will reflect all he’s learned in the last 12 years in Nashville\, but how he’s always remained a Texas country boy at heart. \nWebsite | Facebook | YouTube \n8:30 PM – Radney Foster Band  \nThe position that Radney Foster enjoys in the music landscape is remarkable. Mainstream country music and independent Americana tend to occupy separate orbits. Yet for 37 years\, Foster has thrived in both as a songwriter\, recording artist\, live performer and producer. His songs—solo\, with Foster and Lloyd and recorded by other artists—have topped the country\, Americana\, and AAA charts alike. \nFoster developed his best-of-both-worlds sensibilities growing up in the small West Texas town of Del Rio\, where he absorbed music from both the local pop radio station by day and the renegade country from border station XERF by night. \nHe first gained attention as half of the duo Foster & Lloyd. who\, with “Crazy Over You” became the first duo in history to top the Country charts with their debut single. Their music appealed as much to college rock listeners looking for an edgy roots sound as it did country fans craving tradition\, and they went on to release three ground-breaking albums for the label. He then established himself as a solo artist in the early 90’s with his critically acclaimed release Del Rio\, Texas 1959. \nKnown as a songwriter’s songwriter\, his songs have been recorded by everyone from Keith Urban and the Chicks to Hootie & the Blowfish and George Benson. His own hits like “Just Call Me Lonesome\,” “Nobody Wins\,” and “Texas In 1880” continue to be played on radio and by bands around the world. \nHis most recent project For You To See The Stars is in two parts\, a book of short fiction\, and a companion CD of the same name. \nFoster has written eight number one hit singles\, including his own “Nobody Wins\,” and “Crazy Over You” with duo Foster & Lloyd. His discography contains countless cuts by artists ranging anywhere from country (Keith Urban\, The Chicks\, Brooks and Dunn\, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) to contemporary (Marc Broussard\, Hootie & The Blowfish\, Kenny Loggins\, Los Lonely Boys\, George Benson) and his songs have sold 50 million copies worldwide. He was recently inducted into the Texas Heritage Songwriter’s Hall of Fame. \nHe recently reunited with the Randy Rogers Band to produce their new album Homecoming\, nearly 20 years after he produced the band’s debut Rollercoaster\, and subsequent two albums. \nFoster’s most recent project For You To See The Stars is in two parts\, a book of short fiction\, and a companion CD of the same name. He has appeared in film\, TV and stage including as host of CMT Crossroads\, in the feature film Beauty Mark\, on stage in the acclaimed musical “Troubador.” He is currently working on another book of fiction\, as well as developing film and TV projects.
