Intoxicating Latin romance with an edge
In the 11 years since they began, Del Castillo has become a symbol of the cross-cultural power of music with their eclectic blend of flamenco, rock, Latin, blues and world music. Between the release of their first CD, Brothers of the Castle, in 2001 to their 2006 release, Brotherhood, Del Castillo has received 18 awards, including SXSW’s and Austin Music’s Album of the Year Awards twice and Band of the Year, ASCAP’S Best Independent Group of the Year, and Austin Music Pundits’ Best Live Act. The band has performed on tours with Los Lonely Boys, Willie Nelson and Don Henley and contributed music to the soundtracks of Spy Kids 3D, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Sin City, Grindhouse and Kill Bill Vol. II. Rolling Stone called Del Castillo “tumbling brilliance on nylon-string classical guitars” with “eruptions of technique and taste [that] conjure images of Eddie Van Halen fronting early Santana (with an assist from the Gipsy Kings).”
Levitt Pavilion General Information:
Concerts are FREE and family friendly, except for the 38 Special concert on Oct. 5, which requires a ticket purchase. The Levitt Pavilion is located at 100 W. Abram St. in Founders Plaza on the corner of Abram and Center streets. For directions and parking, please see Directions & Parking. The Levitt is an open-lawn seating, outdoor concert venue. Visitors to the FREE concerts should bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Picnics and coolers are welcome to the FREE concerts. Please do not bring glass containers to the Levitt.
