Signature harmonies in an Indie/folk sound
It’s been an encouraging first year for the Austin based Indie/folk/Americana duo, Dawn & Hawkes. After a happenstance encounter, songwriters Miranda Dawn and Arlington’s own Chris Hawkes joined together to multiply their talents and formed a band that’s been touring the country, sharing songs, shows and everything in-between. Dawn & Hawkes first appeared in front of a large audience at the Kerrville Folk Festival, where Dawn was honored as a finalist in the New Folk competition for emerging songwriters. By last June, they had recorded and released their self-produced EP, Golden Heart, featuring signature harmonies and an Indie/folk sound influenced by Americana, country/rock and classic Beatlesque-pop. Their debut album has earned the respect and admiration of songwriters, such as Jimmy Lafave, Glen Hansard, Josh Weathers, Bill Chambers, Kacy Crowley and Charlie Mars. Dawn & Hawkes will appeal to fans of Swell Season, the Civil Wars, Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, Nickel Creek, The Head and the Heart, The Shins, Ryan Adams and the Cardinals.
