Pop-inflected island rhythms from an America’s Got Talent finalist
A crystalline voice and funky, easygoing beats earned Cas Haley a second-place finish on the second season of America’s Got Talent, which in turn, netted him a measure of fame and a following. But the contest also locked the Texas singer/songwriter/guitarist into a major label deal that didn’t feel quite right. Not wanting to be turned into a manufactured product, he struck out on his own with a collection of songs that bask in the philosophical and musical maturity that comes from staying true to his artistic vision. Cas was touring, recording and building a fan base when a ski accident left him unable to sing for eight months. His latest recording, More Music More Family, is a result of his recovery time when he had time to reflect on how to move his music career forward while better representing his lifestyle. More Music More Family was recorded in Hawaii and includes tracks that address the universality of life lessons with positive and uplifting melodies that draw on Cas’ influences of reggae, soul, blues and rock.
